Setting your devices APN to establish a data connection
So that your device can connect to the internet you need to set up the Access Point Name (APN)
Refer to your specific devices instructions on how you go about setting the APN. Your device may require an SMS to be sent to it containing the APN setting
Depending on which type of GeoSIM you have depends on the APN to use.
If your SIM ID / ICCID starts 894453853 then the APN to use is:
mobiledata
You do not need to enter a user name, password, proxy server, MCC or MNC. These can all be left blank.
If your SIM ID / ICCID starts 89234 or 89444 then set the APN to
globaldata
You do not need to enter a user name, password, proxy server, MCC or MNC. These can all be left blank.
If your SIM ID / ICCID starts 89353 then set the APN to
3iot.com
You do not need to enter a user name, password, proxy server, MCC or MNC. These can all be left blank.
Note that if your SIM starts 89353 it may connect intermittently without you setting the APN. However, you should still manually set it to 3iot.com to ensure it connects to all networks at all times.
Also check the following:
- Ensure that Data Roaming is enabled on your device
- Make sure your SIM has some credit otherwise it will not connect
- Make sure that your device is set to allow manual APN entry.
- Disable any automatic APN setting that your device may have. Some devices will try to set the APN themselves based on the network they see the SIM attached to. This will prevent your device from connecting to data due the device setting the incorrect APN.
